What inspires me?
What inspires me the most are all the stories I have read and seen when I was younger up to the end of middle school. A lot of these stories are what got me interested in art in the beginning as I wanted my own stories to come to life in a piece of artwork. Concentration Concept: My concentration concept is based on the Grimm Fairy Tales. I have always been in love with fairy tales and fantasies from the first time that I have read one. By being able to create a visual work of some of my favorite stories, I would only be able to appreciate each fairy tale more. Overall, the pieces represent a turning point in each story or a scene that I particularly liked the most. I used various sizes of canvas to portray each fairy tale scene accurately so that it would create a larger impact on my audience. Although Grimm Fairy Tales tend to have darker and heavier themes, I wanted to stick to more lighter and pure themes--much like how Disney portrays their tales--in a different light. Technique: I do not have a particular technique that I do for every time I paint, but I feel that I should. I always start with the sketch and go from there by starting with the background then continuing forward to the foreground. I tend to gravitate to more vibrant and bright colors than toward dark colors. I use light colors more often than dark as a lower contrast would give my pieces more of the 'fantasy' feeling. |
